A rotten run continues: Commonwealth Bank is currently experiencing issues processing transactions with some Visa Cards.
UPDATE: As of 1:05pm, a Commonwealth Bank spokesperson said “Visa card transactions should now be processing as normal. We’ll continue to keep a close eye on this today. We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused.”
After the loss of personal files and technical issues last week, Commonwealth Bank has again run into a little bit of trouble for some users this morning.
Commonwealth Bank tweeted earlier this morning about an issue affecting Visa transactions:
We’re aware of an issue affecting some Visa cards. We’re working on this as a priority and apologise for any inconvenience. We’ll continue to give you updates here.

If you’re experiencing issues this morning, you’re going to have to go with a Mastercard or EFTPOS, which don’t seem to be affected by the current outage.
Charlie on Twitter asked CBA for a potential ETA – but as of now, they’re not sure when services will be restored.

A Commonwealth Bank spokesperson reached out with an update at midday today:
“We are aware some Visa credit cards are declining this morning. Customers may be able to use Visa Debit by inserting their card and using Chip and PIN by selecting Savings or Cheque. EFTPOS, MasterCard, AMEX and Diners are working as normal. We apologise to our customers and we’re working to restore services as soon as possible.”
Keep an eye on the Commonwealth Bank Twitter account for extra details and notification of when the service has been restored.
