While some of us require a monastic silence in order to complete anything work-related, plenty of other people find that music helps them focus.
In our Upgrade episode with Tim Ferriss a while back, he told us all about the songs he listens to throughout the day. Here’s a rundown:
In the morning I usually listen to a Brazilian music station — tends to be Bossa Nova Samba.
I listen to Mozart specifically if I need to really bang out a lot with some caffeine in, let’s say the pre-lunch hours.
Then at night if I really need to go I’ll listen to a little harder stuff like Beats Antique, which I like tremendously for writing because there are no vocals.
On the wind-down tail-end of the day, I like to listen to Federico Aubele.
For every book that I write I tend to have one or two movies that I play on repeat in the background — so some of my favourite music is soundtracks to certain movies like Ratatouille…
… or Shaun of the Dead.
Someone asked me, “So what did you watch for 4-Hour Chef?” and I was like, uh, Babe.
And you, dear readers? What do you listen to while you’re hard at work?
