Ah 2017, the year fake news took over our timelines, and the attendant hand-wringing took over our lives. It’s not as if we needed more things to disturb us on Facebook — we’ve been FOMO-gnashing our teeth to dust for a decade, after all. As this year comes to a close, I encourage you to gird yourself for the certain onslaught to come. Take two seconds and install News Feed Eradicator for Facebook, a Chrome extension that does exactly what it says, and in so doing, will preserve the teensy shred of sanity you have left.
When you log in to Facebook after installing News Feed Eradicator, you see, well, nothing.
Like a warm bath.
You’ve got access to your messages, notifications and groups; you can see whose birthday it is in case you want to get in there and “HBD” with the masses, but there’s no news feed. No pics from the Boxing Day party you weren’t invited to, no exhausted-but-happy childhood friend holding her new baby in a hospital gown, no political rage posts, no…I can’t even think of another example of what you might find in your news feed because it’s been so long since I’ve actually seen mine.
Is it extreme to totally eradicate your feed? Perhaps. Are you going to encounter the same BS on Twitter and Instagram? Definitely. Is your news feed still intact when you log in on mobile? Oh yes. But you can reduce the likelihood of seeing stuff there that makes you nuts by following accounts that actually make you happy. My suggestions? Try UPS Dogs — and Lifehacker, of course.

Or you could just set a few things you really care about to view first and then stop scrolling after that. I do this. I customised my general news feed to things I thought were meaningful, but the items from them turned out to be time-consuming fluff themselves.
Also, I can skip over so many articles that work others into a lather because there is no purpose to spending time on it. The headline is plenty. I already know that the world and the people in it have shortcomings, I already see it all the time. Any new items are typical of that. It would take my valuable time away from what I care about and what rewards me.
Need Android/iOS solutions
maybe thats the idea? remove the fb app from your phone, you can still go on messenger ,etc and have the pages/groups app if you manage one ,etc. However i would too like to see an android version of this.
I’ve unfollowed everyone, if I want to see what a friend is up to, I have go to their page. Or there is a list of friends with new posts.
