Jerry Seinfeld is the greatest comedian of the 20th century. His groundbreaking TV show Seinfeld is all the proof you need. Now, the car-and-coffee junkie is bringing his “did you ever notice” style of comedy to Netflix with an original stand-up special. Here are all the details.
Jerry Before Seinfeld will be hitting Netflix on September 19. In addition to new stand-up footage, the special will contain a wealth of archival material including home movies from his childhood. (We hope this involves him comparing the subtle differences between M&M flavours.) Here’s the official spiel from Netflix:
In the hour-long special, Jerry Seinfeld returns to The Comic Strip in New York City for an intimate stand-up set at the club that helped launch his career. Interspersed with never-before-seen material — including a library of legal pads with every joke he’s written since 1975, childhood videos, and more — Jerry performs the jokes that put him on the comedy map.
It sounds like this will be more of a documentary-style special with an emphasis on the comedian’s origin and greatest jokes over fresh stand-up material. That’s all the news we have at the moment – but you’ll apparently be able to get a sneak peak by following @netflixcomedy on Instagram.
