While it’s been possible to record activity from your iPhone or iPad screen connecting your iOS device to a computer and using QuickTime, iOS 11 has added the ability to record screen activity directly on your device. This is a handy for creating video tutorials and capturing gameplay for your YouTube channel.
To enable Screen Recording
- Open Settings
- Tap on Notification Centre and then open Customise Controls
- Tap the + sign next to Screen Recording
A new icon is added to Control Centre. Tap the icon to start recording and then tap it again when you’re done. You can then use iMovie on your iOS device or sync it to a computer for editing.
There are some limitations. For example, you can’t screen grab video streaming services such as Netflix.
