Earlier today, Pokemon GO launched on iOS and Android in Australia, bringing offices and classrooms to a standstill around the country. Unfortunately not all phones are created equal, and this means not all phones will run Pokemon GO. Already heartbroken fans are taking to Twitter and Facebook to express their disappointment. Is the mobile game of the year not working on your phone? Here’s why.

Pokemon GO is an augmented-reality mobile video game that uses your phone’s camera and GPS to capture, battle, train, and trade virtual pets who appear in your surroundings. While Google Play will tell you if you phone is or isn’t compatible, it probably won’t tell you why. Here’s the official list of supported devices from the developer’s site:
Android
br>
•Android 4.4 to Android 6.0.1
(Android N will not supported until the official Android release)
•Preferred resolution of 720×1280 pixels (Not optimized for tablet)
•Strong internet connection (Wi-Fi, 3G, or 4G)
•GPS and Location Services
•Intel CPUs are not supported
br>iOS
br>
•iPhone 5+
•iOS 8+
•Strong internet connection (Wi-Fi, 3G, or 4G)
•GPS and Location Services
•Jailbroken devices are not supported
If you can download the app but it doesn’t run properly, make sure both your GPS and internet (whether Wi-Fi, 3G or 4G) connection is strong. If you can’t play for any other reason, check the list of known issues or report your bugs to Niantic at this link.

Also note that if your phone does NOT have a gyroscope (for some stupid reason my Sony Xperia M5 doesn’t) the AR stuff won’t work.
does an iphone 5s
I have an m5 And it works fine
How??? The M5 doesn’t have a gyro so the AR stuff won’t work. You can still play it just with a animated background though.
@artful-dodger
does your fit the bill with the specs above?
Sony Xperia Z3 works.
Seems to, my issue is that fact that I’m in a small country town and sometimes our reception is a bit patchy for 3G/4G. Works fine on Wifi though.
Aw man u gotta be kidding me. Why couldnt niantic say that, ive been waiting this while time for nothing. Lame, guess ill go play real pokemon. uninstall.

Pre-selling expensive wristbands for a game that may work for you maybe.

I run a intel chipset for my phone, will they patch later on that’ll let me play or am i forever screwed?
So will they be able to make it so that all phones even ones without gyroscope will be able to see Pokemon in a future update or will we just never be able to see them.
In case anyone was curious im talking about the gyroscope requirement for AR.
Same problem! Did you find a solution? If you did email me at iplaysteam20@gmail.com thanks!

For those with Android who is getting a message from Google App Store saying it’s not compatible try looking in this app store, 1mobile. That is how I got the game to run in my Samsung j7. I hope this helps if you.
Did you get the AR to work on your J7, or just posing with the animated background? And if the AR is working, how did you do it?
Please tell me the AR worked and you know how :h
I have a Samsung galaxy s3, its not compatible with my phone ?
It’s because your phone has insufficient RAM. I looked on the Play Store page for PG, and the RAM requirement is 2GB of RAM.
