iOS: Gaming on iOS is a love it or hate thing, but regardless of which side you fall on, everyone knows notifications can destroy a good high score run. How-To Geek reminds us of the importance of Do Not Disturb here.
Lifehacker-alum Whitson Gordon points out that getting a notification in-game typically causes a game to stutter, which nearly always leads to failure. So, Do Not Disturb is the answer. Before you get into a game, swipe up on your screen to pull up the Control Center, then tap the moon icon to enable Do Not Disturb. Depending on whether or not you’ve messed around with the default settings here, you might still need to make one tweak though. Head into Settings > Do Not Disturb and make sure Silence is set to “Always”. Otherwise, you’ll still get notifications when you’re playing games. Do Not Disturb’s admittedly an obvious fix for anyone who uses iOS a lot, but it’s also an easy toggle to forget about.
