Do you have a lot of spices? Not enough room for them yet still have weird awkward spaces in your kitchen? This DIY is for you.
Linda Nortje offers this simple tutorial on the With a Blast blog. She had a narrow gap between her cabinets and oven “just screaming for a spice rack”. To build a similar sliding rack yourself, all you’ll need to do is take measurements, get melamine cut to size, and attach the dowels and sliding mechanism (placed at the top of the spice rack and secured to the bottom of the counter top).
While storing your spices next to the oven might not be the best idea due to possible heat, you can use this idea in any area of your kitchen to make it more efficient. For larger stuff, consider using an IKEA shelf and adding casters for a roll-out pantry.

Just be aware sometimes that gap is required for heat extraction/air flow for the fridge. While it’s great having an extra storage rack, there could be a loss of efficiency in your fridge
Even the eight year olds on Junior Masterchef know that heat degrades spices ridiculously quickly… so she put her spice rack up against the side of her oven?
Brilliant.
