Hey Lifehacker, I’m currently using Chronolapse to generate lots of screenshots, but unfortunately it clumps them all into one big folder instead of separating them by date. Is there some way to have a folder automatically separate its contents into individual folders for each date? I tried Belvedere but if it has the answer I wasn’t able to ask it the right question. Cheers, Capture Crazed
Dear CC,
It sounds like you need http://www.donationcoder.com/forum/index.php?topic=20975“>Sub Div — this is an old Windows-based application that automatically sorts files into folders based on the date that they were created. According to the guys over at Ghacks, the program works well, is user-friendly and capable of sorting large folders full of files extremely quickly.
If any other readers have suggestions of their own, let CC know in the comments section below!
Cheers

Autohotkey can be used to do this if you aren’t afraid of getting your hands dirty in code.
The community is really helpful. Check out their forums (http://www.autohotkey.com/board), or head over to their irc channel. #ahk on freenode.net http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=%23ahk
If you’re happy to change screen capture tools you could try Greenshot. It’ll file capture files in parametrised (is that a word?) folder names.

Oops, sorry, just read what Chronolapse gets up to. I don’t think Greenshot’s quite up to that.
What are these screenshots from?
