Fitocracy, your favourite fitness tracking site, is now out of private beta. To celebrate the public launch, the team behind the site has completely redesigned the site and revealed a new, feature-packed iPhone app to help you track your activity and participate in challenges on the go.
We love Fitocracy because of its social components and those social challenges and groups are emphasised more strongly in the new site design. You can quickly toggle between your overall feed of updates from people you’re following, your group activities and challenges and your own activity right from the home page. You can also check out leaderboards of members who are making serious fitness strides and update your own activity from the toolbar at the top of the page. Giving other members props and commenting on their updates is easier than it’s ever been, as is updating your own activity, something that was a little clunky before but is buttery smooth and easy to do now.
The iOS app shines as well, and allows you to stay up-to-date on what your friends and followers are doing, log your activities as you’re doing them (so no more waiting until you get home from the gym to log your workout) and share your activities, level gains and more to Twitter and Facebook right through the app. If you were a fan of Fitocracy before, the updates have a lot to keep you committed (or in my case, come back) and if you weren’t able to get in before because you couldn’t scrounge up an invite code, now’s your chance to give the service a shot.
Still using Fitocracy? What do you think about the updates? Let us know in the comments below.
