Windows: If you take a lot of screen captures, you know it can be frustrating to try a great screen capture utility only to discover that it closes any open menus and pop-up alerts before taking the capture. CaptureIt Plus is a capture utility that preserves those elements in the shot.
CaptureIt Plus isn’t the only capture utility that does this, but it is one of the few that makes this fact one of its banner features. Once installed, CaptureIt Plus sits in the systray until you need it. When you do, you can use a hotkey to capture the whole screen or active window, or select an area of the screen to capture. You can also tell the app to take repeated screenshots at an interval that you set.
The app stores all of your captures in a folder under My Pictures, but you can change this and specify where you want the images to go-to your Dropbox folder, for example. You can also specify the image format the screen captures are saved in, add the image to an outgoing email after you take it, or send it directly to your printer as soon as you capture it. The tool may not be feature rich enough to replace a more robust screenshot utility, but its lightweight enough to be worth a look if you want a no-frills screen capture app. CaptureIt Plus is completely free, and supports Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7.
