Early Sunday morning, Daylight Saving time ends in NSW, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and the ACT. We explain when to reset your clocks (and which direction you need to go in!)
Daylight Saving officially ends 2:00am Sunday, April 7 2018. This means we all get one extra hour of sleep tonight. Hurrah!
Your smartphones, laptops and tablets should all make the adjustment automatically. With that said, some mobile operating systems occasionally get confused, particularly if you travel overseas a lot. In any event, if you’re rocking an analogue watch/clock or aren’t connected to the internet, you will need to do it manually.
Daylight Saving Time: Is It One Hour Back Or One Hour Forward?
If you can never seem to remember which way to reset your clock, this cute little adage should help to steer you in the right direction:
“You ‘Spring’ forward, then you ‘Fall’ back.”
In other words, you move the time forward one hour in Spring and move it back one hour in Autumn (AKA “Fall”). Yeah, we realise this is a gross Americanism – but we’re willing to choke it down if it helps us remember.
