Happy Monday, everyone, to help you get through the last week of work we have designed this holiday drink. We’re making a spirit-forward beverage to get you into the holiday spirit — the Bittered Sling.
This cocktail — which was first brought to my attention the Bartender at Large — is essentially a brandy old fashioned. While that’s not exactly Christmas-themed, something about barrel-aged brandy, with all of its warm baking spice notes, feels festive.
If your grown up Christmas wish is a drink that screams festivity, you can always garnish with a little fresh nutmeg. (This will up you ingredient count to four, but you’ve been good this year; you deserve it!) To make it, you will need:
-
50 grams barrel-aged brandy (the brown kind)
-
1 teaspoon simple syrup
-
2 dashes Angostura bitters
Add everything to a stirring glass filled with ice and stir until the glass becomes quite cold. Strain into a lowball over ice (or one big cube). Garnish with fresh nutmeg if you so desire.
