Previously on how chords work. Today he puts it all together. In this video, Jason shows you how to noodle around on a piano and sound good, even if you have no idea what you’re doing.
That’s our ultimate goal here – to make fiddling around sound pleasant enough that you encourage yourself to experiment. This is the self-taught approach to piano, the one you won’t quit in frustration because you always mess up the last note of “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”. In fact, Jason teaches you how to turn any mistake into the setup for a satisfying resolution.
As I always point out, these videos aren’t meant to replace regular piano lessons. They’re for the millions of us who don’t have time to “properly” learn piano, but would like to experience the joy of making music. They’re meant to get you excited and interested. (And if you do ever take “real” lessons, the confidence and curiosity you’ll learn here will help you get through the more tedious drills and practise songs.) Everyone deserves to feel the joy of making music.
Come back tomorrow, when we finish up this series with a lesson on exploring the keyboard.
