Veeam has announced new data protection and availability software for Azure hybrid cloud environments. This means a single backup, recovery and availability solution can cover you across multiple cloud platforms as well as your own data centre.
The new Azure Stack support, which will be available in early 2018, will provide customers with a common backup and management platform for on-premises, virtual, physical and cloud environments.
Key benefits of Veeam’s support for the Azure Stack include:
- Multi-tenancy: Veeam Cloud Connect isolates backup copies for each tenant ensuring security and compliance
- Multiple recovery options: Veeam Backup & Replication supports both granular item level recovery through Veeam Explorers for Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Active Directory and for Oracle, as well as full file level restores for tenant files that were deleted or corrupted
- Reporting & Billing: Veeam Availability Console supports real-time monitoring and chargeback on tenant usage, allow either Hosting providers or Enterprise organizations to easily manage and bill their tenants for Availability usage
Asanga Wanigatunga, Senior Director, APJ Cloud Group at Veeam Software said, “Veeam will be one of the launch partners supporting Microsoft Azure Stack. Azure Stack is a game-changer in terms of bringing the agility and innovation of the cloud to on-premises environments”.
While many businesses are embracing a cloud-first strategy, hybrid environments are common with many companies either in transition with legacy on-perm systems or have made a decision to retain some workloads in their own data centre. Having a single backup, recovery and available solution makes good sense.
And with many companies using multiple cloud service providers, Veeam also support AWS so a single solution could be used across multiple providers.
