Video: Most of us don’t have a plain light on an open fixture or lamp in our homes, but if you do, or have a lamp you’d like to dress up, this video from The Lighting Channel has 10 different ways to dress up a light bulb and make it look a little better — or at least make it blend in a bit with your home decor.
The full video tells the tale, and the video is only about two minutes long, but the tips range from the complicated to the simple and easy. On one end of the spectrum, some craft paper or poster board around the lamp can transform it quickly — as long as that paper won’t catch fire from the heat of the bulb. On the other end, you can cut an old wine bottle to at the bottom and turn it into a lovely coloured lamp, as long as you’re OK with the look. Similarly, you could knit or crochet a cover for it that will cast some interesting shadows around your room. If these all sound a little hokey, we can’t blame you — but once you see the results, you’ll understand, or hopefully find something that would work in your space.
