Taking a moment to notice someone’s eye colour is an easy way to build a good eye contact habit. If you’re not comfortable practising on real people yet, Nicholas Boothman, author of How to Make People Like You in 90 Seconds or Less, suggests you practise on your favourite TV characters. Each time a new character comes on screen for a close up, look at their eyes and say the name of the colour in your head. Eventually, you can move the practise on to real people. And before you know it, you’ll be making eye contact with people meet automatically.
