You can now edit code and configure files on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) directly in a browser through a new code editor in Google Cloud Shell, a command line interface used to manage GCP resources. Here’s what you need to know.
It’s based on the Eclipse Orion client, which aims to move the software development environment from the desktop to the web.
The new code editor is part of the Linux-based Google Cloud Shell which means you can access it through a web browser on any computer so long as you have an internet connection. You don’t need to install the Google Cloud software development kit or any other tools on your system; they’re all readily available through the Cloud Shell. Here’s what it looks like:
You can open the Cloud Shell code editor through the Google Cloud Console and start coding or configure files in your GCP environment straight away.
