Apple has just announced the highly-anticipated iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Here’s a rundown of the specification for both of the new phones, when they’ll be available and how much they will cost in Australia.
We compare all the available iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus plans from Telstra, Optus, Vodafone and Virgin right here.
Specifications
The iPhone 7 shares a similar design to the iPhone 6 but with a few notable changes. It has a sleeker look to it now that the antenna line on the back of the phone is gone. The home button has been updated to a Force Touch pressure-sensitive input.
Apple has also changed the way its CPUs work. It now uses two high performance cores and two high efficiency cores, known as the ‘big little’ design used by ARM and Qualcomm. It means that you can rely on the two efficient cores for smaller tasks without having to wake up the high performance cores. This makes the devices more power efficient.
One of the major changes is the lack of a headphone jack. Yes, the 3.5mm headphone jack is no more. Now there’s only one single Lightning port on iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. You’ll be charging the devices and listening to audio all from the same port. Apple has included a new Lightning-based headset and an adaptor in the box to appease those who protested against getting rid of the 3.5mm jack.

Storage 32GB (+ MicroSD card slot)
are you sure??
Sorry! I had used the table template for a different different device.
No, iPhone doesn’t have an microSD slot. Fixed now! Thanks for flagging this!
As an OUTRIGHT price for a 32GB iP7 that is reasonable considering I got my 16GB iP6 for $100 less outright.
Shame I will keep using my iP6 until Apple no longer supports it, or if there is a Special Anniversary edition next year as it will be 10 years since the iPhone was released to the public.
Pity they didn’t develop it further as my 2 IT savvy sons advise that their Sony Z5 phone is still vastly superior for less than half the price. Looking at some of the following features it would appear that they are probably right.. No wonder my boys have a dislike of my Apple Crap!
Sony z5 screen size is bigger than the IPhone 7, has a much better camera at 23Mb versus 7’s
12Mb. and has 4K with resolution of 1920 X 1080 and 32 Mb of memory and all for around $500.
Maybe time for all of us old Apple supporters to try a Sony smart phone.
Have a look, do a comparison and then maybe forget the over prices and under developed IPhone 7.
Robh, the iPhone isn’t popular because people don’t realize there are cheaper phones. Many people will pay a premium for subtle things like Apples build quality, warranty & service for example. More tangible things you may be interested to know are iPhone CPU’s have been the top performers for the last 4-5 years, handily outperforming the Xperia range. iOS is also known to be generally a more secure OS not to mention a more streamlined and user friendly interface. There is much more going on that your boys aren’t telling you 😉
The iphone is popular because Apple are masters at marketing, not because they make better products. They have managed to brand themselves as a “premium” tech supplier whilst putting some of the cheapest/ageing technology into their devices to keep manufacturing costs right down. It is seriously masterful on their behalf they have managed to convince so many people of this and to have them rusted on as die hard supporters no matter what they release and of what quality.
I don’t know where you are pulling your claims from but here is a spec sheet side by side http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=7536&idPhone2=7243 Apple make inferior phones the specs don’t lie yet they charge an absolute premium for it. They are great at making pretty looking phones and putting yesterday’s technology in it and claiming it to be a breakthrough.
iOS being more secure is becoming an absolute myth these days it was true 10-15 years ago when the apple ecosystem was tiny. Apple dropped the claim quietly in 2012 that “macs don’t get viruses” but they had been pedaling that line for over a decade so it is still a myth that they are somehow more “secure” and simply refuses to die.
There really isn’t much more going on in iOS especially these days other than being fleeced for overpriced goods.
Just to clarify I use both platforms on a daily basis windows/linux/mac/android and iphones I look at the facts rather than the spin.
Give them some credit. Last time I checked, Apple invented smart phones.
They made the first mass market appeal smart phone. They didn’t invent smart phones another myth. As I said Apple are master marketers and the blatant lies they have marketed for many years is hard to dispel.
