After months of product leaks and rumours, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are finally preparing to launch in Australia. Here’s a specification rundown on both flasgship phones, along with when you can buy them in Australia and for how much.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 comes with a 5.1-inch Quad HD AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 820 processor and a 3000 mAh battery. The S7 Edge is slightly bigger at 5.5 inches. Availability
The Galaxy S7 will be available to pre-order from February 26 and will go on sale in Australia on March 11. To stay notified, you can register your interest on Samsung’s website. Aussie telcos should have their own pre-order offers up around February 26.
Pricing
The Galaxy S7 will cost $1149 to buy outright in Australia. The S7 edge will cost $1249. There may be slightly cheaper offers available from the likes of Mobileciti and Kogan, but pricing will be largely the same for the first few months after launch.
Australian telcos have not released their own pricing yet. However, it’s safe to assume that the usual mobile repayment options will be offered across a range of 24-month plans. If you’re on a limited budget and don’t mind being tied to a mobile phone contract, this is the option to go for.
If you pre-order either device before March 10, Samsung will throw in a Galaxy Gear VR virtual-reality headset. (More details here.) The free Gear VR offer will also be offered through Australia’s major telcos so keep an eye out on their respective product pages.

s7 edge has 3600mAh according to Samsung’s website
Besides the IP rating, nothing really stands out for me, I’ve had a huawai honor 6 since Dec 2014 that I got for $400 and matches these stats…
Really?
– screen: lower res, slightly smaller
– CPU: slower
– GPU: … probably comparable for a lower res screen :^)
– memory: less
– storage: 32GB is so 2014
– OS: out of date
– Comms: bluetooth – out of date, wifi – out of date
… but the Honor 6 does have an FM radio and was a bargain
My bad, clearly missed a few specs!
Guess the point I was trying to make is I think the price for what you get isn’t the best, lots of alternative brands with equal or better hardware for well under half the price
