After seeing a thousand late-night supplement ads on TV, you probably have a vague sense that prostate care is important for men. But did you also know that playing with your prostate can feel insanely good, and lead to explosive orgasms? Here’s how to keep your prostate healthy, and have a ton of fun doing so.

All About Your Prostate
First, let’s get familiar with what your prostate is. It’s a small, walnut-sized gland that exists in men, sandwiched between your bladder and rectum. The prostate produces an alkaline fluid that gets mixed in with sperm to create ejaculate. The alkalinity of the secretions protect sperm from the acidity of the vaginal canal, allowing your little swimmers to survive long enough to potentially fertilise an egg. The muscles of the prostate also help push semen out of the penis during ejaculation.
The prostate is a delicate little guy, susceptible to a number of conditions. Prostate cancer is probably the most well-known. The prostate can also become enlarged, infected, or inflamed. It can impact erectile function and urinary control. Older men are most at risk for prostate problems. Talk to your doctor if you ever experience frequent, painful, or burning urination, blood in your urine, or painful ejaculation, as they could all be signs of a prostate issue.
Your Prostate Likes to Be Pampered
Now that the bad stuff’s out of the way, let’s get to the more fun topics. Your prostate simply loves being massaged. The entire area surrounding the prostate is rich with nerve endings, so stimulation feels fantastic. Most men can have orgasms from prostate massage alone (that is, without any penile stimulation). Not only that, but prostate-induced massages usually feel significantly stronger than regular ol’ orgasms, and some men can have multiple prostate orgasms in a row. Don’t lie — your finger is creeping back to your butthole at this very moment, isn’t it?
Prostate massage can also have some health benefits. Massage improves circulation in the prostate, and prostate orgasms can help drain any leftover fluids. It can relieve pain and swelling, and may even improve erectile function.
How to Massage your Prostate
It’s not possible for you to touch your prostate directly, but you can stimulate it through the front wall of the rectum. The most simple form of prostate massage is to insert a well-lubed finger up your anus, with your palm facing your body. Press around the wall of your rectum gently, until you locate a walnut-sized lump. Once you’ve located your prostate, very slowly and gently make a “come hither” motion with your finger, stroking against the prostate. This should feel good! Feel free to jack yourself off with your other hand. There’s no set amount of time that you need to go for, so stop whenever you feel like it.
Self-prostate massage can be very tricky if you’re not flexible and don’t have long fingers, so you may want to invest in a toy to make the process even more fun. Remember that any toy going up your butt should have a flared base, to prevent your greedy little rectum from sucking it right up.
One of the most well-known names in the prostate toy world is Aneros. Their Helix model is widely praised across the internet. I didn’t get a chance to test it, but I’ve heard it’s a great toy for newbies since it’s so thin. Insert the Helix into your anus using a dab of water-based lube (you’ll need to go water-based since the toy is silicone-based). The design of the toy ensures that it stays in place, so you shouldn’t have to keep fiddling with it. As soon as it’s in, squeeze your PC muscles so that it feels like you’re “pulsing” against the toy. The pulses, along with the curved design of the toy, will naturally stimulate the prostate. Most men will be able to have an orgasm from the pulsing. It may take a few tries, or a rather long period of time to get there, but the result should be well worth the effort!
LELO recently released a brand new line of fantastic male prostate toys: LOKI, BRUNO, and HUGO. These toys are unique in that they add powerful vibration to the mix. I had a diverse group of testers try them out, and all three received rave reviews. LOKI is the longest and girthiest, so I’d recommend it for men who are already experienced with anal play. You can insert it and leave it in place, or slide it in and out of your rectum. It’s designed to create more intense, explosive orgasms. HUGO and BRUNO produced more of a slow burn type of sensation. HUGO and BRUNO look identical, but HUGO comes with a remote control, which makes it easier to adjust the vibration. Both HUGO and BRUNO also have a secondary vibrator that hits the grundle region, which can intensify the sensations even further.
So what are you waiting for? Start showering your prostate with all the love it deserves!
This is the fourth in a multi-part series from Lifehacker about anal play. You can see the other posts in the series as they come out here.

I realise this is only my opinion, and don’t assume it’s anyone else’s. But I want to add some feedback in case it’s useful.
I’ve been reading Lifehacker since 2005 I think – and have always really enjoyed the views here. But this one author really grates me: Vanessa Marin. It seems she only writes about NSFW topics. Which are fine, but I’d rather they weren’t on this site. It’s like I’m reading down your articles thinking: ‘awesome’, ‘oh-interesting’, ‘worth knowing’, ‘uh-huh’, and then .. ‘wtf? why did I need to see that?’.
I’m really not an oldster, and feel I am quite subjective, open and liberal in the way I think. But if it’s NSFW, maybe it doesn’t need to be in everyone’s feed? ‘NSFW’ to me implys it might offend – so why make it a default article in the stream?
Can we have an option to mute these articles, and then you can see if anyone else feels the same?
I just feel life is generally more wholesome, enjoyable, huge, and valuable than Vanessa seems to make out. I feel sex is part of a gentle unselfishness, and relating works with this; and that sex is not a part of gratifying myself (which V seems to be proposing). I hope you can understand and I’m not sounding too oldschool? I just feel like she doesn’t get what life is.
TLDR Pleeeease can we have an option to switch off Vanessa?
Hi Ben,
Thank you very much for your well thought out comment. We really do appreciate this kind of feedback 🙂
We only post Vanessa’s articles after hours (so usually around 8pm) for obvious reasons. The posts do get resurrected in our “Trending stories/Most Viewed” feeds because people are reading it. We are aware that not everybody is interested in practical sex articles (although a lot of people are) and sorry if you do find this kind of content offensive. Hopefully, in the future, we are able to put in an option where mature content can be filtered for readers who want this.
Hope this helps!
Cheers,
Spandas
