Looks aren’t everything, but an effective resume is visually appealing. A messy one can make it easy to overlook even the most impressive credentials. This tool helps make your resume pretty.
I need a resu.me is a free, private tool that helps you build a good-looking resume. They ask you for info in six categories:
- Personal info
- Statement
- Work
- Projects
- Education
- Skills
From there, you pick the font, spacing, alignment, and you can print your resume or save to PDF. It doesn’t store your info, so you don’t have to worry about privacy. They explain:
It’s completely free so we must collect and sell your information, right? Nah. Nothing you enter on this site is stored or sent over servers. ever. but we do use HTML5’s localstorage to save what you entered on your computer so you can come back end edit it later (so don’t clear your cache!). there are also ads. dont mind those.
It’s an incredibly simple tool that does the job. Check it out for yourself at the link below.

Don’t bother, the resume’s are generated with a header/footer with the site URL.
Ummm, you can turn that off so that it saves it without the header and footer.
yeah i know, im an idiot
https://www.pdfbuddy.com/ import and use the whiteout tool 😛
Use LaTeX with a decent CV style.
LaTeX for most users is either beyond their skills, beyond their patience or even both.
Unless one actually has to use it full time, it’s overkill for one or two odd tasks.
I like these tools, as well as LinkedIn’s one, but the problem I have had is that recruiters want a Word version so they can put it through an ATS. I had to spend hours reformatting my resume into a word document.
Question – is a “statement” on a resume a requirement?
I don’t have one, and the ones I’ve read sound kind of wanky. I’m an EA – I like my work, and I’m pretty good at it – but it isn’t my lifelong passion and all that sort of stuff that people tend to put in those things.
Maybe I’m just not reading the right ones?
