Netflix launches next week, joining a streaming fray that already includes Stan, Presto and Quickflix. They all support browser streaming, but what if you want to watch TV or movies on a different screen?
That’s where secondary device support comes in, and it’s a slightly different picture for each of the four current streaming services. There also near countless special interest streaming services with their own clients and device support, but we’ve concentrated on the mainstream offerings here.

Netflix has been notably coy about its plans for Australian streaming in terms of precisely which clients we’ll see when the service launches next week, aside from specifically noting Fetch TV and early access to the client app for Xbox One owners.
Streaming limitations: Varies by plan; single stream, dual stream or four streams simultaneously, no previous limitation on number of eligible devices.

I noticed a new Aussie Netflix app to download on my PS4 last night. Im using the US version, but the Aussie version looks the same…..
Same on my Xbox 360. Aussie Xbox and gold account. Downloaded netflix and just changed my DNS and my US netflix is up and running.
Stan can’t be used natively on an Apple TV yet can it ? I presume that when you say Stan is available on Apple TV you mean via Airplay ?
If it has a native Apple TV app I will give it a go.
Yes. So far Stan only works when you airplay to the Apple TV, cast it to a chromecast or watch it on your smartphone or tablet. As for native resolution I am unsure.
Airplay is what they mean:

Apologies — I’m sure I meant to put “Apple TV via Airplay” in that spot. Now rectified. There’s no native Apple TV App for Stan as yet.
I was able to install Netflix on my Samsung Smart TV (H6400) on Tuesday night. It looks like Samsung have gotten in early. Good news for me as I can now use my TV instead of my XBox 360 along with my GetFlix account
Yeah it randomly appeared on my LG smart tv earlier this week.
When I open it, it says coming soon etc.
You can also use a Roku device (my choice) for netflix!
Not that it’ll be anyone’s primary Netflix machine, but you can probably add the Wii-U to the ‘known’ category. The Netflix app was dropped early on the Australian Nintendo eShop.

The Netflix app showed up on my Samsung TV this morning – nice to see that they’re getting their ducks in a row in the leadup..
No native Apple TV app? No support from me, not interested in using Airplay.
Would love to have given Stan a go. Hopefully Netflix will setup an App for the Apple TV.
How hard is it for these guys to make up an App?
I’ve got a second Netflix app on my PS3 now, I’m assuming the new one if the “Australian” app.
Stan device support is just shithouse. It’s important to note that with all those devices you can’t have custom roms or rooted/jailbroken devices (well, you can, but then you need to use another utility called RootCloak to hide that fact, but that could break as well). It’s also pretty deceptive, that list. A cursory glance and you’d think, “wow, they support a lot of devices”, but in reality, it’s just a select few Android devices. I’d format it differently, so it would just say “iPad/iPhone; Selected, specific Android devices”, then list all the supported android devices as a footnote. Don’t make it look like they’re better here, it’s really poor on their behalf actually.
Wow no windows phone for presto or stan….oh well.
Are there any plugins for these for KODI / XBMC .
I assume there is a Netflix one but I don’t know about the other 2 (that might be a way to get around the lack of windows phone support)
wow from those options I can really only choose Netflix as even on wii u that is the only option.
Why even bother with Netflix Autralia and iQ3 when hundreds of thousands of Aussies have been watching US Netflix already through PureVPN? Its super-easy to make an account on US Netflix using PureVPN and one account works just as well across all Netflix regional websites. I think even iQ3 and Netflix Australia combined can’t match the power of VPN technology!
Hola VPN access is FREE. and 100% works with Netflix.
I signed up with Stan for the 30 day trial last night. There is currently a promotion where you can get a $10 credit against a Chromecast with Dick Smith. Basically, sign with Stan, buy a Chromecast for $39 including delivery.

So far I have not had the best user experience.
1. Stan uses Chromecast to stream to the TV, but I can’t use Chrome to do that.
2. Stan does not work on my new Sony Xperia Z3.
3. The video quality is unwatchable! On HD the browser spends more time buffering than actually playing. On the non-HD stream the picture is way too pixelated, and the frame rate is too jerky, with the occasional buffering. My speed test shows I am getting 18.81 Mbps on my cable connection, so I would suggest that the problem is with the Stan servers.
4. From a quick perusal, it appears the majority of the programs on offer are of no interest to me.
5. It is not an option to pick up the Chromecast instore at Dick Smith, even though my local has them on the shelf. It has to be posted to my street address, taking up to 5 business days (plus 2 weekends). So, by the time the Chromecast arrives, I will already be nearly a third of my way through the free trial.
I honestly can’t see myself going the full 30 days free trial.
I’m not sure whether Netflix Australia can use roku. I haven’t seen it mentioned on any Netflix info.
Can anybody advise, if not is there a work around.
Watching Netflix on Roku will give you only Australian contents. Reasons for that is that Roku has hard coded google DNS in it is hardware.
However it be unblocked by writing static route to your router. Any traffic to google DNS need to be diverted to your router and then unblocked. It worked for me.
Well no one replied to my question but I have the answer. Roku will not work with Netflix in Australia. Roku claim it is geo blocking by Netflix, Netflix say it is Roku. Go figure, altogether quite unsatisfactory
I could not find Netflix app on my Samsung smart tv’s , smart hub.. even I did reset smart hub several times, no luck ,,, anybody had a luck on Samsung Tv..
nope, can’t get it working on mine either.
It doesn’t appear when the region is set to australia. If i set it to UK or USA it installs but doesn’t work
I’m on an older series 6 tv – TV-50C6500 – but if you have a new tv with Smarthub on it there’s some suggested fixes here:
http://help.unotelly.com/support/solutions/articles/179890-netflix-app-not-working-on-samsung-smart-tv
The problem is most of the information i’m finding on the net is about getting around the region blocking on your samsung tv, i.e. it’s old. There’s nothing about problems with accessing it legit now.
I went looking for Stan on smart hub and found netflix after I did a system update. I believe the update was released at the end of March
Looking to get rid of Foxtel, but have an autistic son who loves the BBCBeebies or whatever it’s called. and would love to be able to get it somehow. Anyway, what’s the best way to go if I want to get a streaming service that might have this plus other kids shows on it? Thinking of going Netflix and something else to give a decent lineup that will work out cheaper then Foxtel.
