We’ve mentioned how dirty remote controls are, and they may not be cleaned very often — if ever. When you stay in a hotel, you might want to clean off previous occupants’ germs before using it, but there are other options too.
We’ve looked at some of the ways you can clean your own gadgets, but you may not have cleaning supplies when you’re headed to a hotel. Antibacterial wipes can help and are easy to bring with you, but there are other options.
Suzy Strutner, writing for the Huffington Post, suggests that you could take some alcohol or bleach with you in a travel bottle and use it to clean the remote. You might want to consider taking a couple of clear plastic bags to help avoid coming into contact with a grimy, gross remote. A Zip-Loc style resealable bag would be ideal as it will prevent the remote falling out.
Turn the bag inside out, put your hand inside it like a glove, and pick up the remote. Unfurl the bag around the remote, get rid of any excess air, and seal it up. You can now enjoy TV, free from remote-borne germs.

Perhaps if you weren’t so paranoid about germs with the crazy amounts of sanitisation, you wouldn’t be as susceptible to them? Maybe expose yourself to “life” a bit more and build up some immunity.
I agree if we’re talking about normal day to day circumstances.
Hotel remote controls though? I’ll take any suggestions at how best to avoid contact with them thanks.
Bleach on a remote… Yeah, that’s not going to end well.
Yeesh, maybe cut down on the toxic cleaning chemicals in your environment and just don’t lick the damn thing, win-win all round. LH is the *last* site that should be promoting this sort of paranoid germaphobia.
Or better yet just wash your hands after you use the remote…
