When ice builds up in your freezer, defrosting it is a tedious and time-consuming job. Coat the freezer walls with cooking oil before it frosts over to make it easier to clean up.

Defrosting a freezer usually involves a lot of time and scraping. If you want to make it easier on yourself, weblog HowToCleanStuff.net recommends coating the walls of your freezer with cooking oil.
At this point, you may want to coat the walls of your freezer with nonstick cooking spray (unflavored of course) or glycerin. This will make is so ice can’t stick to the walls. No more difficult defrosting!
Aside from its intended use, cooking oil is also great for greasing lawn mower blades and cleaning paint off skin.
