We know that your oven’s self-cleaning feature can actually do more harm than good, but the main alternative is usually some pretty harsh chemicals. If you’d prefer to avoid those as well, The Kitchn recommends a bicarb soda mixture with a vinegar followup.

Tough chemical cleaners will certainly get the grime out of an oven, but they also tend to really stink up the oven itself, which tends to also spread through a whole apartment if you’re in a small space. The Kitchn’s solution takes a little longer than most chemical ones, but only requires bicarb soda, water, white vinegar, and some elbow grease.
Basically, you’ll make a paste from 1/2 cup of bicarb soda and water, coat your oven with the mixture, let it sit for 12 hours, scrape that paste of in the morning, then wipe it all down with a little vinegar. Head over to The Kitchn for the full guide.
