Android (rooted): Most days, having a rooted phone is an asset. But it can become a liability when a certain app refuses to run on rooted devices. RootCloak aims to prevent that.
RootCloak — which requires the Cydia Substrate platform — attempts to hide all traces of root access from specific apps the user designates. The developer claims that it can’t always be 100 per cent effective, especially if you’re using a custom ROM, because there are too many ways for an app to detect whether or not you have root access. However, for those RootCloak can block, you can gain access to functionality that might otherwise be blocked off.

… Seems like it would be a much better option to have something that let you choose apps to run with root than to choose those that cannot.. Since you only realistically need root for very specific applications that say they need root, where as you don’t have any idea what an ‘untrusted’ app is doing with it…
Last I checked, an app had to ask for root access, so you could always just deny it.
I wasn’t even asked if I wanted root. How do u ask 4 access?
No, this is to hide the fact that that you have root access from apps than won’t run if a phone is rooted. Apps like my work BYOD enterprise security security software…
Right, so just hide it from all apps that don’t require root access?
Has anyone got it to work with Foxtel Go on a rooted phone?
