Taking care of our teeth and gums can have a significant impact on our lives. This weekend, take some time to make sure you’re not neglecting anything important.
Brush Better
Brushing your teeth aids more than just your mouth — it affects your entire body. For that reason, you definitely want to make sure you’re doing it correctly.
For starters, timing actually makes a difference. You don’t want to brush your teeth immediately after you eat. Dentists suggest waiting 30 minutes instead because if you ate or drank anything acidic you run the risk of damaging the enamel protecting your teeth. This is especially true for breakfast, as many people drink orange juice or coffee. If you can’t wait a full 30 minutes, however, you can prevent the acid from sticking around by drinking water at the same time. Just alternate sips and swish the water around for a short moment before swallowing. This will help keep any damaging acids and sugars from sticking around in your mouth.
Floss Better
Most everyone brushes their teeth, but many of us neglect flossing because it’s time-consuming and often frustrating. However, it’s very important and you should never skip it.
You can gain more control and do a better job by tying floss in a loop. In fact, your dental hygienist probably does this and you’ll recognise the form. In addition to form, you just need to know how to actually floss properly. It’s not hard, but worth a refresher if it isn’t your forte.
Have a great weekend!

This article would’ve been better as a general oral health reminder which could have included the importance of cleaning your tongue on a daily basis as well as gargling on top of brushing and flossing.
