Don’t want to upgrade to Mavericks — or stuck in a position where you cannot? That shouldn’t be a problem for app compatibility in the near future.
With the release this morning of OS X Mavericks, the spectre of incompatible software for users of older Mac operating systems raises its head.
According to MacRumors, Apple has indicated that it will copy what it has done with iOS by allowing App store developers the opportunity to offer “last compatible” versions of apps for users using older operating systems.
Developers have apparently been told that they’re now able to offer the facility to provide older code for those who have purchased versions that aren’t Mavericks compatible, although a developer can opt not to do so for usability or legal reasons.
