If you want to try the Pomodoro productivity technique, you’ll need a timer to track your work sessions and remind you to take breaks. Marinara Timer is a simple — but flexible — web app that gets the job done and gives you great customisation choices.
Marinara Timer has three different modes: Pomodoro, Marinara and Kitchen Timer. The Kitchen Timer is just a simple countdown clock that you can set manually, perfect for single sessions. The Pomodoro mode uses the classic 25-minute work sessions followed by five-minute and 15-minute breaks. For example, set the timer for 25 minutes and start working. Focus on your work, and don’t stop for 25 minutes. When the timer goes off, stop working and take a five-minute break. That’s one “pomodoro”. Repeat the process, and every four pomodoros, take a 15-minute break to recharge.
The Marinara mode gives you more flexibility and lets you schedule how long you want those work sessions and breaks to be. If you’d rather work in three 25-minute bursts and break for 20 minutes, you can do that instead, for example. Every mode lets you customise the sound that plays at the end of your work session, signalling it’s time to take a break — and there are plenty of options to choose from, from the jarring and urgent “fire alarm” to the gentle “angelic song”.
We’re big fans of the Pomodoro Technique, and it’s one of your favourite productivity methods too, so a good timer is always welcome. Hit the link below to give it a try.
