Volunteering is a great way to gain experience as well as give back to a community. When you’re done with an event or project, make sure to get a letter of recommendation to go along with your resume.

It’s already well-established that putting volunteer experience is a great way to beef up your resume. However, getting a reference letter from your volunteer bosses when you finish can be an even better way to prove your skills to a potential employer. While it’s obviously frowned upon to coast through charity work just to pad your job applications, if you’re already doing the work, it doesn’t hurt to ask.
