Whether you’re biking or driving, everyone has to share the road, and the goal for everyone is to get where you’re going in one piece. This DIY project adds brake lights and turn signals to each handlebar so drivers or other bikers always know your next move.
This project is similar to some other projects we’ve seen, especially in that the turn signals and brake lights are powered by an Arduino. The best thing about this particular project is that the signals and the controls are waterproof and built right into the handlebars, so you don’t have to worry about them failing on you when you need them.
Instructables user Mizchief100 put the whole thing together. As you can see in the video above, they work well and are surprisingly bright. He says the whole thing cost him about $30-$40, which is a small price to pay for the added safety. You can even combine them with some of the rear-mounted lights we’ve highlighted before.
