Doesn’t Tiger Airways already enough reputation problems without breaking spam email laws? The airline has been slapped with a $110,000 fine for failing to honour unsubscribe requests from customers on its email list.
The Australian Communications & Media Authority (ACMA) has been investigating Tiger since last December, following complaints from customers who continued receiving emails after unsubscribing from Tiger’s mailing list. The airline has now agreed to an enforceable undertaking that will see its internal systems reviewed to ensure it complies with the Spam Act.
Signing up for email lists is a useful way to access cheaper fares, but you shouldn’t have to keep receiving email you don’t want if you’ve decided Tiger is not for you.
